Other Comments

The ABCB is specifically interested in your comments on the registration levels for building surveyors. Do you agree with the criteria used to distinguish between with the two levels of registration for building surveyors and does it adequately accommodate the different levels of risk?

Please provide your reasoning.
The two levels will create confusion within the Industry with different fee structures for Certifiers (surveyors). In Rural areas it may not be possible to find a suitably qualified building surveyor.

Are there any other matters you wish to comment on?

Comments
Robyn Chapman, CEO of Assistive technology Australia (previously Independent Living centre NSW) has confirmed in writing that I am competent across the competencies studied in 2007 (part PRD40605) and that my Cerificate No. 05190 is still current as there is no expiry date.
I keep up to date with all regulations and legislation relative to training as well as being a retired and registered Architect, and Heritage consultant. As my practice is in a Rural Area (Northern Tablelands of NSW) I am called upon to prepare joint reports on both Heritage impact and Disability Access.
I think there should be a 'Grandfathering Clause' to pick up my past 13 years experience without having to gain accreditation through a further provider.
The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations still recognise competency CPPACC5003A. 'trainin.gov.au', a joint initiative of the Australian and State and territory Governments also regognise this competency.
A Disability Access Consultant cannot issue a building compliance certificate when work is completed as we are not registered as a 'Building practitioner' (Regulation 111 of the Building Regulations 2006). All we can do is report that our original recommendations have been achieved to the building surveyor providing a Certificate of Compliance.
