I'm not sure why this is limited to just "Designers" when Access Consultants have a critical role to play within the design, compliance and sign-off of a building in relation to access including the development of Performance Solution reports under the BCA.

Further, many Development Consents (NSW) from local council's require an "access consultant" to provide a statement prior to the issuance of the Construction Certificate/ Occupation Certificate. This shows how critical we are.

Access Consultancy is more than just "design" of a building it is understanding of the rules and regulations which is coupled with the BCA, Federal Legislation, State Legislation and Local Government Regulations.

I believe its imperative that the term "Access Consultant" is used within the NRF due to the specific nature of our work.

Any other comments for this discipline
It is important that the term "designer" is replaced with "Consultant" as consultants have a critical role to play in the design, compliance and sign-off of building works.
If "Access Consultants" are providing input in the design of the building works by interpreting the relevant disability access legislation & regulations and then signing-off on the completed works i believe its important that "Access Consultants" are registered as part of this updated frame work.

Other Comments

The ABCB is specifically interested in your comments on the registration levels for building surveyors. Do you agree with the criteria used to distinguish between with the two levels of registration for building surveyors and does it adequately accommodate the different levels of risk?

Please provide your reasoning.
The difference of requirements and risk is exponential between a smaller building and larger building.
