No where in this National registration is there any reference to waterproofing (internal and external) or to a Profession to oversee waterproofing of a building or structure.
Waterproofing is considered a structural or major component of a building and is certainly representative of over 50% of the building defects.
To not have professional oversight of design and implementation of waterproofing systems on the interior and exterior of the building will, in our opinion, be a major flaw.
There are specialist remedial consultants already in the industry that are able to accept responsibility for the oversight of waterproofing design in both the new-build area and remedial works.
It is, in our submission as an industry body in the remedial sector, totally unacceptable to not have any waterproofing design discipline, broken down to exterior and interior specialisations.
