Registration levels
The NT only uses the Certificate IV Construction Qualification for Building Practitioers Registration, as we are aware this Qual is used for educating students in low rise construction. This leaves a massive gap in Industry currency for Building practitioners and leaves the Industry vulnerable.
Descriptions/definitions
On the NT Building Practitioners web site only class 1, 2 and 10 are mentioned.
No Diploma for Medium rise.
No Advanced Diploma for High rise.
Scope of work
NT has a lot of catching up to meet Industry standards and requirements.
A person is twice as likely to get injured on a Northern Territory site than anywhere else in Australia. Just as an example. There are many Building Practitioners that have no trade or Qualifications, these people are totally reliant on sub contractors.
Qualification requirements
Should be Cert IV low rise.
Diploma Medium Rise.
Advanced Diploma High Rise.
Experience requirements
Demonstrated ability to project manage for the 3 sectors Low rise, Medium rise and High rise. 4 years minimum with professional referees.
Any other comments for this discipline
I can see a dark future for the NT Construction Industry if they dont take these reviews seriously. They refuse to change and are falling further behind other states and Territories year by year.
