Pumps in AS/NZS 3500

Overview

A proposal has been received by the ABCB Office to include provisions for the design and installation of pumps in all parts of AS/NZS 3500.

The ABCB Office is seeking PCC and BCC stakeholder support for the proposal linked to this document.

Consultation with stakeholders has indicated that pumps are often installed incorrectly in many installations. This could suggest that the current provisions provided in the AS/NZS 3500 series may be insufficient in providing adequate guidance on the recommended practices.

Furthermore, there are currently no Deemed-to-Satisfy solutions for the design and installation of pumps in the NCC. This means technically every installation must be undertaken as a Performance Solution.

The ABCB Office is seeking your support for this project so that DTS provisions can be provided for the design and installation of plumbing systems for inclusion in AS/NZS 3500 3500 Parts 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Why your views matter

Your input is vital in providing a greater consistency for pump installations across all jurisdictions.

What happens next

Your views will be consolidated and if support is gained for the proposal, the ABCB Office will form a joint working group to work with the ME-030 Standards Australia committee and proceed with the appropriate alignments.
