Technical Specification for the WaterMark Certification Scheme

The proposed amendments to Technical Specification, WMTS-052 Metallic-bodied inlet pressure control valves greater than DN 50 , include the following proposed amendments:-

• Clause 9.1 scaling factor for a product as determined within AS/NZS 4020 to be tested as ‘in-line’ devices and not ‘end of line’ devices.
• Clause 5.2.3 (d) amended to align with current environmental and OHS requirements.
• Clause 5.2.4 amended to allow for new and innovative stainless steel materials.
• General editorial changes.

The following justification is provided for these changes:-

Primarily these valves are installed deep within the supply pipeline, and are not exposed to end-of-line conditions. However, these valves are still part of the drinking water supply system and therefore require the existing Watermark certification to continue and meet AS/NZS 4020.

The current WMTS-052 is based on AS 3688 threaded connections with a sentence in clause 8.1 that allows for other connection styles. The proposed amendment identifies the in-line installation for a suitable scaling factor for testing to AS/NZS 4020, testing of products for use in contact with drinking water. This amendment also aligns with existing inlet pressure control valve requirements in AS 1357.2-2005, reconfirmed in 2015.
