It should be mandatory for all building or roofing professionals to ensure that the historic practice of leaving a gap between upper edge of peripheral roof fascias and under-side of overlaying metal roof sheeting, be no longer an acceptable standard, and that said gap be plugged in such a manner that all ingress from fire and any other elements be blocked from entering the roof space.

Building codes and standards should be amended to require this.
